Un scut partajat în furcă răsturnată. În primul cartier, o corabie neagră, cu trei catarge de aceeași culoare, iar pânzele umflate de vânt și fanioanele din vârf, de argint; ambarcațiunea plutește pe valuri redate prin brâuri undate, alternând negru și argint. În cartierul doi, pe aur, un vultur de mare ținând în gheare un delfin, ambii negri și planând deasupra valurilor reprezentate ca și în primul cartier. În cartierul trei, pe fond roșu, monumentul de la Adamclisi, de argint.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1999.

The ship with masts and flags refers to the maritime activity that ensured the economic progress of the area.

The eagle holding the dolphin reproduces the image from the first monetary issues of History (5th century BC), the first issues from antiquity on the current territory of the country.

The monument from Adamclisi commemorates the battles between the Dacians and the Romans and alludes to the Latin origin of the Romanian people.
