Official blazon
German In Gold drei im Dreipass gestellte schwarze Füße.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

Füssen was first mentioned as a city in 1295 and the oldest seal dates approximately from the same time. The oldest seal already shows the three feet as a canting symbol (Füssen or feet). On the first seal the three feet were still separated, later seals show the feet joined, to form a triangle in the centre of the shield.

When Füssen became part of Bayern in 1818 the arms were changed. The new arms showed in the upper half the diamonds of Bayern, and three feet in the lower half.

On July 29, 1842 the above arms were restored and granted by King Ludwig I.
