Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
BREITENBRUNN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (until 1973 Parsberg)
Additions : 1978 Hamberg, Kemnathen
Official blazon
In Rot ein goldener Röhrenbrunnen, auf der Längsseite des Brunnentroges drei sechsstrahlige silberne Sterne.
Origin/meaning
The arms are officially granted on May 26, 1978.
The arms are canting and show a fountain (Brunnen). The fountain already appears on the seals of the city dating from the 14th and 15th century. The colours and present shape were defined in 1812, but with three stars on the side. These were removed later during the 19th century and were finally restored in 1978.
