Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in June 1995, but were originally designed in 1949.

The arms show the symbols for a good community life; the sun for life in general, a book for the bible, the harp for music and enjoyment, and a plough and wheatears for the agriculture. The original design was slightly different (see below) and in 1995 the arms were redesigned according to heraldic rules.
