Origin/meaning

The territory was historically part of Lorraine, hence the arms of Lorraine in the first and fourth quarter. The second and third quarter show the aarms of the Cathedral Chapter of Metz, which has several possesions in the area. Th inescutcheon shows the arms of Nicole Maujean, Lady of Halloville in the 18th century.
