ESCHENBACH IN DER OBERPFALZ (ESB)
State : Bayern
Incorporated into : 1973 Neustadt an der Waldnaab
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1967.
The lion is the lion of the Pfalz and indicates that the area was until 1628 for a large part ruled by the Princes of the Pfalz. The red crosier on silver symbolises the influence of the Bishops of Bamberg in the area. The other crosier symbolises the two main monasteries in the area, those of Speinshart and Michelfeld.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
