History : Formed at Doncaster in November 1938

Coat of arms (crest) of the No 616 (South Yorkshire) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force

Official blazon

In from of an arrow the point uppermost in bend Or a rose argent.
Motto : Nulla rosa sine spina = No rose without a thorn.

Origin/meaning

The Rose symbolises Yorkshire and the Arrow speed. The Motto alludes to the Rose of the Badge. The later was approved in June 1941.
