These arms have been officially granted on 28th May 1992.

The spear is the attribute of St. Maurice, the local patron saint. The two chess-rooks at both sides are taken from the canting arms of Rocabertí family (a chess-rook is named "roc" in Catalan), lords of the local castle, centre of a barony and, since 1893, of a marquisat (we can see the marquis crown at the top of the arms).
