Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 2, 1925 and slightly changed on September 13, 1996.

The map of Brazil is divided in two parts: the silver represents its area according to the agreement with Spain in 1494 and gold the area conquered by the efforts of the daring "bandeirantes" who entered the wild forests starting from the province (now State) of São Paulo, many of whom born in Santana de Parnaíba, to enlarge greatly the country.

The supporters show two "bandeirantes", the dexter one carrying_ the flag of St. Ann and the sinister armed with an old arquebus.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
