BUCHHOLZ
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Emmendingen
Incorporated into: 1975 Waldkirch
German | In geteiltem Schild oben in Blau ein springender silberner Hirsch, unten in Silber auf grünem Schildfuß drei Kugelbäume mit grünem Laub und schwarzem Stamm. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in June 1903.
Already in 1655 the local council asks Johann Adolf von Roggenbach, the Austrian governor of the area, for their own seal. This probably was not granted as in the late 18th century the council mentions that it does not have a seal.
The oldest seal dates from between 1820 and 1830 and shows a small shield with in the upper half a deer and in the lower three trees. The deer is taken from the arms of the Von Bayer, lords of the village in the late 18th century. The trees probably refer to the -holz (wood) part of the name.
All later 19th century seals showed the same shield, except the seal from 1892 which suddenly shows a lion, and in 1903 the State Archives proposed the colours, which were approved by the council.
