Origin/meaning

The trefoil symbolises the agriculture in the municipality. The spurs are taken from the arms of the Itzinga family who, until 1414 were lords of the area and lived in Itzendorf. Itzendorf was drowned in the 18^th century. The spurs and colours also refer to the city of Norden.
