Origin/meaning

The arms are canting showing a horn and a castle (Burg), and were officially granted in 1948.

Horneburg was founded in the 12th century by the Bishops of Bremen, who built a fortress, which later grew into the town. The local council used only a horn in its seal.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
