PROCHOWICE

Province: Dolny Śląsk
County : Legnica

Arms of Prochowice
Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on March 23, 2003.

The arms were, according to legend, designed in 1263 by the local Knirght Peter of Prochowice. The arms indicate that the local forsts and rivers (Kaczawa, Bobrek and Oder) were full of game and fish. In any case the creature already appears on the 16th century seals of the city.

The design of the arms basically never changed since. The historical colours are a golden sea-hare on a red shield, but in 2003 the local mayor decided to change the colours to the colours of the flag.
