Arms of Thisted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1938 and again on December 11, 2006.

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, which is known from 1584, but as it shows the St. Mary with child, it dates from the Catholic times. The St. Mary was most likely the patron saint of the city.
