Atzelgift.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a magpie is a canting element, Atzelgift is derived from the meaning 'where the magpies cry'.

The wheel symbolises a wagon wheel and therefore the importance of agriculture for the municipality. It also refers to the former iron ore mining in the area. The lower half of the wheel is shown as a water mill wheel, symbolising the two former wate rmills in the village, known since the 15th century.
