Region : Keski-Suomi
Former province : 1997-2009 Länsi-Suomi, 1960-1997 Keski-Suomi Additions : 1969 Koskenpää
Incorporated into : 2009 Jämsä

Jämsänkoski Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

Punaisessa kentässä siilirauta, jota ympäröi reunuksittain ketju; molemmat hopeaa.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 3, 1954.

The wheel-iron symbolises the use of the local rivers for hydro-electric power. The chain is a common symbol for the mother parish of Jämsä, Jämsänkoski and Koskenpää, and is thus used by all three municipalities in their arms.
