Official blazon

(de) In Rot-Grün ein silberner, mit drei schwarzen Rauten belegter Schräglinksbalken: Oben rechts ein goldener Hammer und ein goldener Schlägel mit gekreuzten goldenen Stielen. Unten links über goldenem Wellenschildfuß ein vierspreichiges goldenes Wasserrad.

Origin/meaning

The three diamonds are derived from the seal of Wilhelm von Alsdorf, dating from 1453. The upper half shows mining tools, whereas the lower half shows that Alsdorf in the 19th century a major industrial town was. The industry (wheel) became possible due to the water power (base).
