Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The lion rampant on the shield was to signify the noble house of the count of Hanau-Lichtenberg. The three white crosses on the red field represent the many Swiss that had come to work the lands of the Lords. The white cross on the red field is the symbol of Switzerland.
