Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 15, 1963.

The upper half shows a canting elk's antler (Elch-elk/moose) in the colours of the arms of the former Lords of Hunolstein. The lower half shows the lion of the Duchy Pfalz-Zweibrücken, to which the area historically belonged.
