Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1950.

The arms show the geographical situation of the town, with symbols for the formerly important manufacture of writing slates and styluses, as well as of toys (blocks).

Already in the 18th century the Steinach used a seal with a group of trees on a hill and a crown. When the village received town right sin 1920, this composition was made in to arms and the crown was replaced by a wreath. These arms were used until 1950.
