NESSE
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Aurich (until 1977 Norden)
Additions : 1972 Nessmersiel, Westdorf
Incorporated into : 2001 Dornum
Origin/meaning
Nesse was historically a possession of the Attena family (see Dornum), whose arms bore a bear. The wheat-ear symbolises the agriculture. The spurs are taken from the arms of Norden to symbolise the ties to this city.
