Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a blue diamond shape 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in width and 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height the plumed helmet of a knight in yellow, detailed ultramarine blue and 9/16 inch (1.43 cm) from the outside edge of the design is a white diamond shape line 1/32 inch (.08 cm) in width. Above the helmet the inscription “SUSSEX CENTRAL” in white letters. Below the helmet the inscription “HIGH SCHOOL” in white letters. The diamond shape is edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Azure and Or, in the first quarter a knight’s helmet and in the fourth quarter a lamp of knowledge counterchanged. Attached in base a Blue scroll inscribed “GOLDEN KNIGHTS” in Gold letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: The school colors are yellow and blue. The mascot is a knight. The diamond shape represents the state of Delaware, the “Diamond State.”

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Gold and blue are the school’s colors. The golden knight is the school’s mascot and represents wisdom and strength. The lamp represents knowledge.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved 16 July 2001.
