State : Steiermark
District : Weiz

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 2nd, 1984.

The main charge of the arms is a so-called Wurfbarte, a medieval weapon. It is the original coat of arms of the von Stubenberg family, important noblemen and landowners in Styria. Before the lands of the municipality became the property of the Stubenberg, they were owned by the Gutenberger, a family of Hochfreien. In rank, Hochfreie were equals of the Duke of Styria. In honour of this, the Wurfbarte was put upon a shield of ermine.
