MÜNSTER (MS)

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Incorporated into : 1975 Coesfeld, Münster-city, Steinfurt, Warendorf

Wappen von Münster (kreis)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 1, 1936.

The upper part shows the arms of the State and diocese of Münster, as the whole district was part of this state until the early 19th century. The lower part shows the arms of the Lords (since 1726 Counts) of Merveldt, who played a major role in the area as governors for the bishops.
