EGELSBACH
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Offenbach
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1953.
The old seals of the town, the oldest dating from 1622, all show an oak leaf, as the village historically belonged to the Dreieich forest estate, Dreieich meaning three-oaks. On the seals the tree is rising from clear roots, why the heart was chosen in 1953 I don't know.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
