Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1959.

The arms show, rather unique, a railroad track flanked by two wavy bends. The track indicates the importance of the town as on a major railway crossing in the State. The railways also played a major role in the local development. The two wavy bends are canting, Beckum is derived from the word in local dialect for stream. The colours are derived from the arms of the town of Beckum.
