Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 19, 1956.

The division of the shield symbolises the two villages Gross- and Kleinwahlstede, which were joined to form the present municipality. The oak is a very typical tree for the region. The tree has 12 roots, one for each of the oldest farms and families in the area.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
