NO 237 OPERATIONAL CONVERSION UNIT, ROYAL AIR FORCE

History: Formed July 31, 1947, disbanded December 1, 1951. Reformed October 23, 1956 and again disbanded January 21, 1953. The Unit was again reformed March 1, 1971.

Badge: In front of two cutlasses argent hilted gules guarded Or in saltire points upwards a mortar board sable.
Motto: Panache et precision = Panache and precision.

Origin/meaning

The Cutlasses symbolises the Buccaneer Aircraft used by the Unit. The Mortar Board symbolises the role of training Pilots. The badge was granted in July 1972.
