English Red; arising from water barry wavy of five blue and white sinister a castle embattled proper flying from the dome a pennon white charged with a cross red emergent from the castle port set with a portcullis raised gold an ancient ship gold lined white mast and gaft gold foresail set and drawing rigged all white.

Origin/meaning

From the 14th Century Seal of Mayoralty of the City. The Badge was approved in 1969.
