BETTVILLER

Département : Moselle

Bettviller.jpg

Official blason

D’or à deux bisses affrontées de gueules, les queues passées en sautoir en pointe, soutenant une croix de Lorraine du même.

Origin/meaning

The Lorraine cross refers to the County Bitche, to which the area historically belonged. The two snakes are the symbol of St. Firminius (Firmin), patron saint of the Hornbach Abbey, to which the village belonged in medieval times.
