State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Additions : 1969 Bernkastel, Wittlich

Bernkasw.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on December 21, 1971.

The arms combine elements form the old districts arms, the lobster and cross from the former Bernkastel district arms, and the chequered field from the former Wittlich arms.

The keys are the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of Trier, and are derived from the arms of the city of Wittlich.
