SANTA BÀRBARA

Region : Catalonia
Province : Tarragona

Escudo de Santa Bàrbara

Official blazon

Escut caironat: de gules, una torre d'argent oberta sobremuntada d'un copó d'argent. Per timbre una corona mural de vila.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 31, 1994.

The tower and the chalice are the attributes of St. Barbara, the local patron saint. The tower reminds also that the town had belonged to Tortosa council until the 18th century (the arms of Tortosa show a tower Argent on Gules).
