Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 7, 1996.

The arms are canting, as the most probable origin of the name Chaktornya (the old name of the town) is Csaky's Tower, after the count Dimitry Csaky, high magistrate and palatine on the court of king Bela IV (14th century).

The coat of arms s based on a 1596 seal and is actually the family arms of Ernusth de Csáktornya from the 15th century. In 16th century it was inherited by the Zrinski family, who marshalled the coat of arms in their own.
