Official blazon
Shield: Per bend nebuly argent and azure, in base a mullet of eleven points of the first and in chief an alerion gules.
Crest: On a wreath of the colors, argent and azure, issuant out of a cloud proper, four crossed lightning bolts their points in base, two at center gules between two gold.
Motto (not shown): Super primum (Above the First).
Origin/meaning
The Alerion is symbolic of flight and further suggests the Fixed Wing Aircraft used by the Unit. The Star symbolises Achievement and the Helicopters used by the Unit. The Nebuly division suggests the Sky.
The Crest symbolises the Striking capability of a Aviation Unit. The Colours Yellow and Red from the Flag of the Republic of Vietnam symbolises service in the Vietnam War. The colour red also symbolises the Two Meritorious Unit Commendations awarded to the Unit. The Award of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class is symbolised by the yellow colour.
