Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 29, 1953.

The arms are based on a seal of the village from 1776. The arms show the arms of the Basta family, with an inescutcheon of the d'Ennetières family. In 1650 the Basta family acquired the estate and manor of Aalbeke, and in 1682, due to the mariage of Alexamdrine van Basta with Jacques François Hippolyte d'Ennetières, it became a possession of the d'Ennetières family until 1798.
