In 1650 the Basta family acquired the estate and manor of Aalbeke, and in 1682, due to the mariage of Alexamdrine van Basta with Jacques François Hippolyte d'Ennetières, it became a possession of the d'Ennetières family until 1798. | |||

The arms were officially granted on January 29, 1953.
The arms are based on a seal of the village from 1776. The arms show the arms of the Basta family, with an inescutcheon of the d'Ennetières family.
