Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 22, 2001.

The village lies along the Xuquer river and thus the river played a major role in the local development. Until 1917 there was a large ship that was used to cross the river. The ship was linked to a great rope and glided along its length to reach the other side. This ship had no sail. Due to its importance the ship was placed on the arms already around 1904. These old arms can still be seen on the town hall.
