Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 29, 1987.

The aspen leaf is a canting element; the name is derived from Abolderstetin, or place of the aspen. The shield division is derived from the arms of the city and bishops of Halberstadt, to which the village belonged for a long time. The colours are those of the Dukes of Braunschweig as the village was part of the Duchy of Braunschweig.
