The arms obviously indicate the importance of agriculture for the village, and show a farmer holding three wheat-ears. The farmer also holds a banner with a lion. As the council did not apply for colours, the banner was granted in the Dutch national colours (blue and gold). In 1818 Belgium formed part of the Netherlands.
