Origin/meaning

The Breisig area was until 1794 a joined possession of the Essen Convent and the Dukes of Jülich. The town of Niederbreisig was granted the prefix Bad in 1958 and the arms were granted at the same time. The left half shows the two arrows derived from the arms of the Essen Convent. The right half shows a fountain, a symbol for the prefix Bad (health resort).
