The main part of the arms is canting. The municipality consists of two villages, Großballhausen and Kleinballhausen, which are represented by the two balls in the upper corners. The two chevrons look like a roof of a house, and are thus canting for the -hausen (house) part of the name. The difference in size symbolises again the two villages (Klein=small, Groß=large). The sawmill-wheel in the point symbolises the importance of forestry in the area. The colours are derived from a small plant, which is very common in the cleared forest. It flowers yellow, but can be made into a blue pigment. | The main part of the arms is canting. Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 20, 1995.
