Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1950.

The arms show in the upper half a deer for the formerly large forests in the area. The lower half shows in the right corner a stone wheel, symbol for the stone industry in the area. The lower left corner shows two miner's tools for the coal mining in the area, which started in the 17^th century.
