Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on February 3, 1999.
The stone refers to the granite quarries and the special granite found here. The stone ('pierre') also refers to the battles in the second world war in the woods of la Piquante Pierre. The cogwheel refers to the former water mills and the local industries.
The blue bend refers to the Rupt river that crosses the municipality. The seven besants refer to the seven hamlets in the municipality : Presles Planois, La Burotte, Trougemont, Contrexard, Pubas and Echte.
