German In Silber ein aufgerichteter schwarzer Bär, begleitet von drei (2,1) roten Sternen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were initially granted on December 10, 1650 by Count Eberhard von Erbach and again on June 11, 1928.

The bear in the arms is obviously canting (Bär=bear). The stars are taken from the arms of the counts of Erbach (see also Erbach). Even though the field used to be brown (original grant), gold (Hupp, see below) or green (local journal, 1960), the arms were re-granted in silver in 1928 at the 600th anniversary of the granting of the city rights.
