BREIL/BRIGELS

Canton : Graubünden
Additions: 2018 Andiast, Waltensburg/Vuorz

Wappen von Breil/Brigels/Arms (crest) of Breil/Brigels

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 2018.

The three white mountains refer to the Cavistrau Pign (3220 m), Cavistrau Grand (3252 m) and Piz Trumpiv (3101 m) in the municipality. The red tower refers to the Jörgenburg castle in Waltensburg. The sun refers to Andiast, the highest, and thus sunniest, of the three villages.

The arms are derived from the older seal of the municipality and show the ascension of St. Mary, the local patron saint. Why this, rather unusual, composition was chosen is not known.
