Arms showing Saint Agatha.

Saint Agatha of Sicily or Saint Agatha was born at Catania (Sicily) and she was martyred in approximately AD 250. She is the patron saint of Catania. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.

Saint Agatha is a rather popular saint, but not too common in heraldry. She is either shown as a person, as a bust or with her symbols : pliers, heart and breasts on a platter. She was tortured and her heart and breasts were cut off using pliers.
