Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 20, 1975.

The blue field alludes to justice, dignity, loyalty and firmness. The bridge means unity, and symbolises the two former settlements of Ibarra and Catupiry, that now form Catiguá. The base is the São Domingo river. The roses are the symbol of St. Isabel, patron saint of the city.

The shield is surrounded by coffee and sugar cane branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
