Civic heraldry of France - Armorial de France/La France héraldique
Département : Loir-et-Cher
- (fr) ===Origin/meaning===
I have not much information on the meaning or origin of these arms; only that the escutcheon in the center is that of the Hurault family, lords of Cheverny, who built the splendid 17th c. castle that still exists.
Literature : J.J. Lartigue, Armorial général des communes de France, Paris, 1995; information from Francois Velde (www.heraldica.org).
