DÜRNSTEIN IN DER STEIERMARK

State : Steiermark
District : Murau

Durnstein.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 15, 1986.

Dürnstein is right at the border between the Austrian states of Styria and Carinthia. The arms consist of the Styrian colours, green and white. As the castle of Dürnstein (now in ruins) was very important in the Middle Ages, the panther of Styria was included into the arms as well, but in black instead of its more usual white.
