Wappen von Degerloch/Arms (crest) of Degerloch
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms of Degerloch are known since 1654, when they appear on a stained glass window in the old village hall. The colour in the glass is more like violet, which has resulted in later images with a blue, instead of a red field. The change of colour, however, is due to the method the glass was made. Other sources indicate that the red field is the correct colour.

The arms are a combination of a plough iron, a symbol of agriculture, and two canting swords (Degen). The plough iron, however, is not seen on the 19th century seals of the village. In the end of the 19th century the iron re-appears.
